Enterprise Television- SON Sensitises Anambra Communities to Dangers Of Substandard Products
The Standards Organisation of Nigeria(SON) says it has carried out a sensitisation programme in Anambra communities as part of creating awareness programme about the dangers of substandard products throughout the federation.
The Director-General, SON, Osita Aboloma said that substandard products pose a lot of dangers to individuals and the society, stressing that many accidents and fire outbreaks have been linked to the use of such products.
The Country Programme Officer, International Fund for Agricultural Development, Ben Odoemena, said that nations who value quality of life set standards for every aspect of human process.
He also pointed out that SON created standards or adopted internationally acclaimed standards for products and processes to safeguard the interests of the society and the country at large.
Ben Odoemena commended SON’s efforts for making it easier for consumers to distinguish quality products from inferior ones using the SON Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme logo and other initiatives.
He concluded by challenging his people to ensure that products used in executing projects in the community met quality standards, calling on the works committee to monitor the construction company working on the road projects in the community to ensure that the projects conformed to the specified standards.
