The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun on Thursday disclosed that the Federal Government has identified and compiled a list of 500 Nigerian tax evaders, some of whom own houses abroad.
She disclosed this at the National Economic Council meeting. The Vice President Yemi Osinbajo presided over the meeting.
Adeosun said their tax compliance status at home will be determined. She added that they can take advantage of the Voluntary Assets & Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS) to pay their tax debt.
“Letters would soon be going out to these Nigerians, including a number of prominent ones, asking them to take advantage of the tax amnesty in order to avoid prosecution and fines by simply paying up their tax defaults,” she said.
