Residents of Doka district in Kaduna North Local Government Area on Tuesday protested what they described as double electric billing and insufficient supply of electricity to their homes, Daily Trust reports.
The aggrieved residents marched from Ungwar Liman to Kaduna Electric (KAEDCO) customer care centre at Abuja road by Sardauna Crescent and from there marched down to Kaduna Electric headquarters along Ahmadu Bello Way by NEPA roundabout raising placards and decrying unfair treatment by officials of KAEDCO towards them.
Speaking on behalf of concerned people of Doka, Comrade L. A Abdullahi alleged that several hundred electric bills under KAEDCO within Doka community and beyond have doubled and in some cases tripled in the last one month; saying that no reason or information has been given by KAEDCO for the high cost of electricity.
