The Nigerian Stock Exchange’ All Share Index (NSEASI) for Thursday 22 September, 2017 closed at 35,188.97 which is 0.05% lower than the previous session’s 35,207.89.
Market Capitalization closed at ₦12.130 trillion against previous session of ₦12.137 trillion, representing 0.05% decrease.
3,271 deals recorded in the day represent an increase of 9.88% against previous session’s 2,977 deals.
The 429.224 million units of equities traded for the day was 212.50% more than the previous session’s 137.351 million units.
Value of equities traded for the day increased by 665.42% more than previous session’s ₦1.134 billion to ₦8.680 billion which was recorded for the day.
Neimeth Internal Pharmaceuticals Plc shares gained by 4.92 per cent to emerge as the top gainer for the day with a closing price of N0.64.
This was trailed by NEM Insurance (Nigeria) Plc with 4.46 percent with a closing price N1.17. FBN Holdings Plc gained at 4.27 percent with a closing stock of N5.37, Skye Bank Plc gained at 3.77 percent at the closing price of N0.55. Nigerian Breweries Plc, which recorded 4.46 per cent closed at N173.00.
Guinness plc gained at 2.56 percent to close at N99.28. WAPIC plc gained at 2.56percent to close at N0.51. AFRIPRUD gained at 1.85 percent to close at N3.30. Diamond bank also gained at 1.72 percent to close at N1.22.
Transcorp Plc gained at 1.72 percent to close at N1.18. UCAN Plc aslo gained at 1.33 percent to close at N15.20. UBN 9bls Plc grew at 1.22percent to close at N5.79. NASCON Plc gained at 1.21percent to close at N12.00. Sterling bank gained at 1.06 percent to close at N0.96. NAHCO grew at 1.00percent to close at N3.03. NPFMCRF bank grew at 0.91percent to close at N1.11.
ETERNA grew at 0.88percent to close at N3.45. WAPCO grew at 0.77 percent to close at N49.48. FIDSON grew at 0.65 to close at N3.00. Guaranty bank grew 0.65 to close at N38.95.
UBA Plc grew at 0.59 to close at N8.55. UCAP plc grew at 0.34percent to close at N2.98. Last on the list of the gainers shows PZ plc and NESTLE to gained at 0.08 and 0.00 percent to close at N24.02 N1225.05 respectively.
The losers’ chart was topped by Aiico Insurance Plc, which recorded a decline of 5.36 per cent to close at N0.53. Also on the chart were Champion Breweries Plc with loss at 5.25percent to close at N2.30. Caverton Offshore Services Group Plc loss at 5.00percent to close at N1.14, Okomu Oil Palm Plc loss at 4.49percent to close at N63.21. Vitafoam Nigeria Plc declined at 4.81 to close at N2.70. Jaizbank loss at 4.29 to close at N0.67.
Custody insurance also loss at 3.89 to close at N3.46. Morison Plc also loss at 3.85 to close at N3.46. Total Plc loss at 2.00percent to close at N225.00. Consumer Goods industry had a good day, the leading brewer and contender were on song as the stock of Nigerian Breweries (NB) gained N5 and Guinness (GUINNESS) gained N2.56 to record the most value change in the day.
The day’s better performance was driven by gains recorded in financial services industry as the Insurance and Banking and the Consumer goods sectors appreciated by 0.19%, 0.23% and 1.26% percent respectively following increases recorded in the share prices of NEM, Total, Guaranty and Nigerian Breweries.
The NSE oil/gas and the NSE industrial goods indices returned negative at the close of the day’s trading activities, after recording respective declines of 0.65 per cent and 0.54 per cent. On the flip side, the NSE food/beverage, the NSE banking and NSE insurance indices recorded respective advancements of 1.26 per cent, 0.23 per cent and 0.19 per cent.
